Tasks
Adjust slope and intercept to guide the marble. Earn up to 3 stars per task — unlock the next by completing the previous!
Set the slope so the marble rolls gently to the right and lands in the goal. (Hint: try m = −0.5) Task 1
Marble The slope is fixed at −1. Adjust b (y-intercept) to shift the ramp so the marble lands in the elevated bucket. Task 2
Marble This bucket is narrow — you'll need to hit the slope precisely. The marble must land within a small window. Task 3
Marble The goal is far away and low. You'll need a steep slope to give the marble enough speed to reach it in time. Task 4
Marble The goal is near the middle of the graph, not at the far end. Dial in a gentle slope — too steep and the marble flies past! Task 5
Marble The goal is right on the y-axis. Remember: the y-intercept b is exactly the y value where your line crosses x = 0. Task 6
Marble The bucket is only slightly lower than the starting height. Set an almost-flat slope — but not perfectly flat, or the marble won't move! Task 7
Marble The bucket is off-centre and at an awkward height. Tune both m (direction and speed) and b (height offset) together. Task 8
Marble A steep ramp launches the marble into the air! Set m so it becomes a projectile that arcs into the goal below. Task 9
Marble Master class: find the exact slope and intercept combination. The target zone is tight — only one region works. Task 10
Marble Start with First Roll to learn how the marble follows your line, then progress through ramps that require precise slope and intercept control. The final Grand Linear Finale combines everything you've learned!
Tip: The marble follows your line equation exactly — a steeper slope means a faster roll. Adjust the y-intercept to set where the ramp starts, and the slope to control its angle.
