Tasks
Adjust a, h, and k to reshape the parabola and guide the marble. Earn up to 3 stars per task — unlock the next by completing the previous!
Make the parabola into a bowl (a > 0). Slide the bowl's centre h so the marble rolls in and settles at the goal. Task 1
Marble The bowl's depth (k) is fixed. Slide h to position the valley directly under the goal marker. Task 2
Marble If 'a' is too large the bowl is narrow and the marble bounces out. Lower 'a' to widen the bowl. Task 3
Marble Set a < 0 to flip the parabola into a hill. The marble will launch off the peak! Task 4
Marble Lower the vertex (k) so the bottom of the bowl lines up with the goal's y-coordinate. Task 5
Marble The goal is not at the vertex — the marble must roll past the bottom and up the right side. Task 6
Marble Set a to a large negative value. The marble shoots upward and arcs into the goal! Task 7
Marble All three sliders are in play. Adjust a, h, and k to route the marble. Task 8
Marble Set a very wide, shallow bowl. The marble should oscillate and settle near the vertex. Task 9
Marble The tightest goal! Find the exact vertex form parameters. Task 10
Marble Start with Bowl Basics to learn how the marble follows a parabolic curve, then progress through ramps that require precise vertex parameters. The final Grand Parabolic Finale combines everything you've learned!
Tip: The marble follows your parabola y = a(x − h)² + k exactly — adjust a to widen or narrow the bowl, h to shift it left or right, and k to raise or lower the vertex.
